BOEING 777 CASE – The PAC postpones the trial

A dramatic turn of events occurred yesterday at the Anti-Corruption Pole (PAC) in Antananarivo. The trial concerning the Boeing 777-200 case has been postponed to October 27.

The PAC, located in 67 Ha, announced the new date in a brief statement, citing the need to await a response to a subpoena issued to the Civil Aviation of Madagascar (ACM), as well as to businessman Mamy Ravatomanga, and the results of a “digital investigation.”

During yesterday’s hearing, the judge noted the absence of the plaintiff, the ACM, as well as several defendants, including the businessman who remains in pre-trial detention in Mauritius. Three of the five companies listed as defendants were also absent.

Interestingly, while the ACM was identified as the plaintiff, its Director General, Faniry Alban Rakotoarisoa, was present at the PAC premises before the hearing but left before the proceedings began. High-profile figures such as former Senate President Richard Ravalomanana, former Minister of Transport Valery Ramonjavelo, and former ACM Director General Colonel Gervais Damas were in attendance.

The case, which involves the illegal delivery of five Boeing 777-200s to Iran—a country under international embargo—has been a major scandal since it broke in July 2025. The charges include infringement of state sovereignty, abuse of office, corruption, forgery, and money laundering.
