A two-day festival is being organized by the United States Embassy to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. Titled the “Freedom Festival,” the event will take place on September 26 and 27. The public will be able to immerse themselves in American history and culture through various thematic activities.
The festivities will be held at the Analakely City Hall, and admission will be free. The program includes an immersive exhibition dedicated to the Founding Fathers of the United States, as well as screenings of classic and contemporary American films. Visitors can also participate in a spelling bee and a singing competition. Additionally, study opportunities in the United States will be presented to the public by Education USA.
The economic sector will also play a significant role in this celebration. American companies and brands present in Madagascar will showcase their products and their contributions to the Malagasy economy. The embassy also highlighted the long-standing trade relations between the two countries, noting that their first agreement, the Treaty of Peace, Friendship, and Commerce, dates back nearly 160 years. The event will also serve as an opportunity to highlight the ties of friendship between the two nations.
