From September 24 to 26, the Alliance Française of Antananarivo will celebrate spices, aromatic plants, and global flavors during the 12th edition of its Gastronomy Fair.
Organized in partnership with Yas Madagascar, the fair will be held under the theme “Spices, Scents, and Flavors.” This edition will focus on the history and significance of spices in Madagascar, their cultural dimension, and their connections to the world. Vanilla, cloves, and other Malagasy aromatic products will be highlighted through various activities, blending heritage, innovation, and creativity.
Visitors will also be able to discover products and expertise from professionals in several sectors, including bakery, pastry, chocolate, fine groceries, honey, tea and infusions, artisanal beverages, catering, and street food. The fair will bring together gastronomy enthusiasts, artisans, entrepreneurs, caterers, and vocational training stakeholders.
One of the workshops, titled “I Get My Hands Dirty” (Je mets la main à la pâte), will allow the public to follow the work of professionals and discover a creation made with Malagasy spices. The initiative aims to showcase expertise while highlighting the scents and flavors of local products.
Vocational training will also be in the spotlight on September 26 with the participation of the Havila School. Its students will take part in the Culinary Village and represent the gastronomic traditions of eleven French-speaking countries, allowing the public to discover different cultures through their culinary specialties.
Following a 2025 edition dedicated to chocolate, the Gastronomy Fair continues its exploration of culinary products and expertise. This 12th edition will bring together professionals and the public around Malagasy spices, while highlighting the flavors and culinary cultures that connect Madagascar to the rest of the world.
