712 police officers have been promoted to various ranks within the National Police. The ceremony for the presentation of new ranks took place on Wednesday at the National Police Academy (ENSP) in Ivato. Women account for 10% of the officers promoted.
The promotions cover several levels of the police hierarchy. Eight officers were promoted to the rank of Divisional Police Commissioner, 13 to Principal Commissioner, 68 to First-Class Police Commissioner, and 41 to Second-Class Police Commissioner.
In other ranks, 290 officers were promoted to Police Officer, 240 to Police Inspector, and 52 to Police Brigadier.
The ceremony also featured two command appointments. Divisional Police Commissioner Hector Razafindrazaka took office as the Director of the National Police Intervention Force. Meanwhile, Divisional Police Commissioner Alain Adonis Rafalimanana was installed as the head of the Analamanga Regional Directorate of Public Security.
The ceremony, presided over by the Minister of Public Security, Inspector General of Police Erick Michel, was attended by members of the government as well as representatives of civil and military authorities.
