The Amoronakona bus station was bustling with activity yesterday as all transport vehicles serving the RN7 route officially began their departures from this new facility.
Travelers, parcel shippers, cooperative employees, and drivers navigated the busy terminal during the first day of the transition. While some passengers were busy locating their cooperatives, others were setting up their designated booths with makeshift signs. Many travelers expressed satisfaction with the new station, noting that it is cleaner, more organized, and free from the chaotic presence of touts compared to the old Fasan’ny Karàna station.
However, the transition is not without challenges. Some transport operators reported lower passenger numbers, suggesting that many travelers are still adjusting to the new location. Additionally, some passengers noted that reaching the new station remains difficult, requiring multiple bus transfers from the city center.
The Ministry of Transport and Meteorology has implemented a strict policy banning street vendors and touts from the station premises to improve order. To facilitate access, the Ministry has mobilized shuttle buses to transport passengers from various points to the new terminal. Despite the initial logistical hurdles, the Collective of Cooperative Presidents reported dozens of regional and national departures throughout the day.
