FOOTBALL – FC Rouge eliminated from CAF Confederation Cup after another defeat to Red Arrows (0-2)

A short journey and then goodbye. FC Rouge has exited the CAF Confederation Cup following another defeat against Zambia’s Red Arrows (0-2) during the return leg of the preliminary round, held on Sunday at the Côte d’Or Sports Complex in Mauritius. Starting with a two-goal deficit from the first leg, the Madagascar Cup winner failed to turn the tide.

FC Rouge struggled against the technical and athletic superiority imposed by the FC Red Arrows players. This superiority was materialized by two goals, one in each half, scored by Ackim Mumba (23′ and 55′). The African adventure for FC Rouge thus comes to an end after this second defeat. They had already been beaten by the same score a week earlier in Ndola, Zambia.

Consequently, only CFFA remains to represent Madagascar on the African stage this season. The Andoharanofotsy club drew (1-1) against Lesotho’s Lijabatho on Saturday, after having defeated the same team (2-0) a week earlier in the CAF Champions League.
