MAHAJANGA – Tourism operators gather for World Tourism Day

Mahajanga will host the national celebration of World Tourism Day under the theme “Tourism and Digital Transformation: Rethinking Tourism through Artificial Intelligence.”

The city of Mahajanga will be the meeting point for tourism stakeholders this September. The World Tourism Day celebration will take place from September 24 to 27 in the “City of Flowers.” The Boeny region offers numerous opportunities to be exploited. “A hundred species of birds are listed there. Mahajanga deserves to be a showcase that will proudly represent Madagascar,” emphasized the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Lucie Vololoniaina, during a press conference held yesterday at the Radisson Blu Antananarivo to present the main outlines of the national celebration, in collaboration with the National Tourism Office of Madagascar.

The theme of this edition invites reflection on the transformation of the sector, particularly regarding how travelers search for destinations and how professionals personalize their offers. For Madagascar, these technologies offer a key opportunity to increase the visibility and accessibility of its tourist sites.

This event will also be an opportunity to highlight the Boeny region through its tourism offerings, handicrafts, expertise, and natural heritage. More than a hundred exhibition stands, conferences, a carnival, and numerous activities will punctuate this event.
