HANDBALL – MADAGASCAR WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP – THBC challenges My-Sah in the final

The Madagascar senior women’s handball championship will feature a rematch between My-Sah Itasy and THBC today at the Mahamasina Sports Palace. Defending champion My-Sah from Itasy will face THBC, the 2025 runner-up, in a repeat of last year’s final, which the Itasy team won 25-24.

In the semi-finals held on Tuesday, the defending champions secured their spot by defeating TMI Ihorombe 24-15. My-Sah took control early, leading 13-6 at halftime and maintaining their dominance throughout the second half to seal the victory.

In the second semi-final, THBC won a hard-fought battle against ASRB with a score of 27-25. Despite ASRB’s strong start, THBC showed greater efficiency in the decisive moments to secure their place in the final.

This final also highlights the evolution of Malagasy women’s handball. Olga Ranarilalao, a long-time supporter and widow of international athlete Vestalys Michel, expressed concern over the declining public interest and the current level of play compared to previous years. She emphasized that to revitalize the sport, development must start at the primary school level to cultivate a new generation of players.

Following the 2025 scenario, this new confrontation between the two teams promises a high-tension final.
