According to his wife, the stroke resulted in paralysis on the right side of his body. His loved ones remain by his bedside and are asking the public to keep him in their thoughts during this difficult time.
Born in 1973 in Antsiranana, Lego is a well-known figure in Malagasy music and a virtuoso of the diatonic accordion. Coming from a family of artists, he discovered the instrument early on and taught himself to play.
After his professional debut in Antananarivo as a dancer and musician, notably within Rossy’s group, he founded his own band in the late 1980s. He developed a style blending salegy and bahoejy, contributing to the evolution of traditional rhythms from Northern Madagascar.
His popularity grew from the late 1990s with albums such as “Dadilahy” in 1999, “Madagascar” in 2001, and “Jobyhely” in 2003. Through his songs, Lego reflects on daily life, cultural values, and Malagasy social realities.
Recognized for his stage energy and mastery of the accordion, the artist has also performed internationally, helping to promote the rhythms of Northern Madagascar beyond its borders.
