RN4 – Berivotra Bridge: A detour opened for light vehicles at PK 520+010

A sigh of relief for users of the RN4. The assembly work for the Bailey-type modular metal bridge at PK 520+010 on the RN4, the Berivotra bridge, located in the fokontany of Berivotra, rural commune of Antanambao Andranolava, Marovoay district, which was scheduled to take place from Sunday, August 30 at 7 a.m. to Monday, August 31 at 7 p.m., has finally been suspended.

The Ministry of Public Works changed its plans. The work has been postponed until tomorrow at 7 p.m. Initially, it was decided that the road would be closed all day and no detour would be accessible during the work. A major effort is being made to facilitate the bridge construction.

Yesterday, the ministry’s statement reassured users that traffic would not be completely interrupted during the work. A detour has been set up for light vehicles.

“The detour set up to facilitate traffic is open this Monday. Work on this detour, primarily intended for traffic in the Mahajanga region, began on Saturday. Consequently, the vehicles concerned can use this alternative route for the entire duration of the tasks. Furthermore, the construction work on the Berivotra bridge will last two days, Tuesday, September 1 and Wednesday, September 2, 2026. All road users are reminded to continue following instructions on-site and to exercise caution throughout the duration of the work. In addition, construction work on the Mangapaika bridge is also complete. The left support on the Mahajanga side has been raised,” the statement read online.
