Madagascar’s cycling scene was in the spotlight this Sunday during the 2026 Madagascar Road Cycling Championships. Some 63 participants from various clubs and regions competed across three categories: Elite, Junior, and Women. In the Elite category, Houlder Mohamed from COSPN Analamanga emerged victorious after a demanding 133.97 km race.
The race started in Ambodisaha Fenoarivo, following a round-trip course towards Miarinarivo. The riders completed the event in 3 hours, 52 minutes, and 30 seconds, in a race that was particularly competitive due to the number and skill level of the participants.
The COSPN rider eventually made the difference to secure the national title. Thony from the ACCLI club took second place, while Tovonay from Toliara completed the podium.
This victory also rewards the hard work of the entire COSPN team. Houlder Mohamed expressed his gratitude to the management, the coach, and all his teammates for their support.
“My advantage perhaps lies in the experience gained abroad, notably at the Tour of Mauritius, the Tour of Reunion, and during several local races in Mauritius with the KFC Faucon Flacq Cycling Team,” he explained.
Following this national title, the new champion of Madagascar is now looking ahead to upcoming international events, including the World and African Championships.
