The Presidency of the Refoundation is taking charge. It has announced the “organization of consultations to prepare for the elections.” It invites “political parties, political platforms, associations and civil society organizations working in election observation, as well as the various active forces of the country” to participate in this event, which is scheduled to be held at the Iavoloha State Palace from September 1st to 8th.
Participation in the discussions is, however, reserved for organizations with a legal, formal, and up-to-date status. Thus, to obtain the invitation to be collected this Sunday, political parties and groups must present a certificate of legality issued by the Ministry of Interior and Decentralization for the year 2026. For their part, civil society organizations involved in election observation must be equipped with a certificate of regularity for 2026 issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
For the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, this consultation represents an unavoidable step to establish the legitimacy of future electoral deadlines. The Head of State has reiterated on several occasions that the priority objective of the transition remains leading the country toward free, inclusive, and transparent elections, emphasizing that the superior interest of the Nation and democratic consensus must prevail over individual considerations to rebuild solid institutional foundations.
