The fourth round of the Madagascar Asphalt Slalom and Hill Climb Championship will be held on September 5 at the SRK circuit in Imerintsiatosika.
This is an unprecedented event. Organized by the TFM Rally club, the race will take place at the Serana Racing Kart (SRK) circuit. After three rounds of hill climbs, this event will feature a winding slalom course, which is more technical despite the lack of elevation changes. Rally cars and cross-cars will use this track, which has been primarily dedicated to karting for over twenty years, for the first time.
The competition will consist of three heats. According to the regulations, the asphalt track will feature chicanes with two starting points (A and B) and two finish lines, allowing two cars to start simultaneously. Each driver must complete two starts (one on track A and one on track B) per heat. Course reconnaissance on foot is scheduled for 8:00 AM.
Free practice begins at 8:45 AM, followed by timed trials. The first heat is scheduled for 10:30 AM. Starting order will be determined by registration, with the fastest drivers from the timed trials starting first. For the second heat, the leaders from the first pass will maintain their positions, while for the third heat, those with the best times in the second pass will start last. To be classified, each driver must complete at least one heat on both tracks A and B.
The first three rounds have been dominated by young FMMSAM club driver Juan Rakotojohary, known as “Tovonen Jr,” driving a Renault Clio Motul M10. The four-time national champion has won the opening race at Antanetibe Mahazaza, as well as the Imerinkasinina and Ambohibary Sambaina rounds. This upcoming race is crucial for Juan, as he nears a fourth consecutive victory, which would secure his fifth championship title.
