CONCERT – Erick Manana pays tribute to his late friends

Feo Gasy is kicking off its 30th-anniversary celebrations with a concert at the CCI Ivato, ahead of a European tour and the release of a new album scheduled for January 2027.

After three years dedicated to festivals, Feo Gasy returns to the stage in Madagascar to launch its 30th-anniversary celebrations. The group will perform on Saturday, August 29, at the International Conference Center (CCI) in Ivato, before continuing its tour abroad. This concert will also be an opportunity to pay tribute to the members and friends who have passed away and left their mark on the group’s history.

“I prefer that we start here, in our country,” explains Erick Manana, who wishes to open this new chapter in Madagascar before departing for Europe. A European tour is planned for September. The artist also intends to relaunch Feo Gasy on the international stage and return to the festival circuit.

The CCI concert will specifically honor several figures who shaped the group’s journey, including Fafah, Rakoto, Bariliva, and Sata. For Erick Manana, this celebration is also a time to remember these fellow travelers.

Feo Gasy’s story began in Bordeaux, where the members met on stage and quickly discovered a deep spiritual connection. Erick Manana, then the youngest member, recounts how much he learned from his elders. “The entire history of Feo Gasy could fill a whole book. It is a true school. In the beginning, I was the youngest and I learned a great deal from my seniors.”

Another highlight of this new phase is the preparation for the group’s next album, scheduled for early 2027. The recordings are already finished, and this new project is expected to strengthen the group’s presence on the international scene. The album will also feature new songs that the artist loves and wishes to integrate.

Beyond the upcoming concert and European tour, Feo Gasy aims to continue its return to festival stages, driven by a broader ambition: “Our duty, as Feo Gasy, is to make Malagasy music shine throughout the world.”

The year 2027 will also mark another major milestone, as Erick Manana celebrates 50 years on stage, with events scheduled at La Cigale in Paris on May 1st and at the Mahamasina Sports Palace on July 4th. These celebrations will emphasize intergenerational transmission, featuring collaborations with artists like Kolibera and the younger generation, including Dadou, the son of Fafah.
