BASKETBALL 5×5 – U16 – JCBA boys and girls reach the quarter-finals

The competition has entered its knockout phase with the round of 16 of the U16 national championship for girls and boys in Ambositra. The highlight of the day is the qualification of the Jeunes Chrétiens Basketteurs d’Antananarivo (JCBA).

The round of 16 showed that clubs from Analamanga are shining in Ambositra. Five girls’ teams and three boys’ teams have secured their tickets to the quarter-finals, confirming the strong state of basketball in the capital.

In the girls’ category, Analamanga’s dominance is particularly clear. ASSM, JCBA, Fandrefiala, Lucadro, and NAS have all passed the round of 16. ASSM defeated SEPA ABM (48-35), while JCBA overcame TSBB (51-32). Fandrefiala left no chance for USF (95-18), while Lucadro dominated ASBM (69-42). Meanwhile, NAS beat CRJS (60-42).

Other teams also joined the eight quarter-finalists. Phoenix and FFRP-BCTM, both from Vakinankaratra, validated their qualification, as did the winner of the duel between Ascut Atsinanana and Pintade d’Amoron’i Mania, which was still ongoing at the time of going to press.

In the boys’ category, Analamanga currently has three representatives in the quarter-finals: JCBA, ASSM, and NAS. JCBA eliminated A2BC (56-47), ASSM dominated NBE (65-41), while NAS narrowly defeated Fandrefiala (53-50).

However, competition from other regions remains strong. Fivam from Alaotra-Mangoro, Ascut from Atsinanana, SBC from Vakinankaratra, and JSB from Boeny have also secured their qualification. The final spot for the quarter-finals remains to be decided between AS Monfort from Amoron’i Mania and MB2ALL from Analamanga, whose match was still in progress.
