The statement made on Tuesday by the President of the National Assembly, Siteny Thierry Randrianasoloniaiko, regarding the budgets allocated for the renovation of the Barea Stadium in Mahamasina during the Andry Rajoelina regime’s terms from 2019 to 2025, has caused a “major stir.” He claimed the cost “amounted to 120 million dollars rather than the 77 million dollars previously announced.” The head of the lower house noted that despite this pharaonic investment, “the stadium has not yet received final certification.”
The chairman of the parliamentary inquiry commission, Sylvestre Mahavitara, stated yesterday that “the investigation is still ongoing. The commission will communicate the official reports. We are currently collecting the necessary documents for the inquiry.”
Mahavitara added, “We are verifying technical files. We have gathered all documents today from public institutions and bodies involved in the investigation, such as BIANCO, ARAI, SAMFIN, PRMP, CNM, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. We will see how it progresses later.” Tender procedures and public procurement will certainly be at the heart of the investigation.
“All citizens have the right to know the truth about this matter, and it is not just about the Barea Stadium case, but many other presidential projects. We have several sources and will send the results and reports to the competent authorities. The investigation is scheduled to last six months according to the text, but we will try to wrap it up in four. The inquiry is proceeding wonderfully thanks to the help of oversight bodies,” emphasized the commission chairman.
