Madagascar’s two representatives in the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup are set to enter the competition on Saturday, September 5. With about ten days remaining before the first-leg matches, the Centre de Formation de Football d’Andoharanofotsy (CFFA), the Madagascar champion, and FC Rouge, the Madagascar Cup winner, have entered the final stretch of their preparations.
According to Franck Rajaonarisamba, the coach of CFFA, “there are still many things to settle within the team to make it more competitive.” The coach specifically mentioned the need for better synergy between the team’s core players and the new recruits. For FC Rouge, coach Fenosoa Ratolojanahary shares a similar sentiment. “Cohesion and ball retention still need to improve, especially in front of the goal,” stated the former Cnaps Sport defender.
Both teams will have one final test before their official debut. CFFA will face Lesotho’s Lijabatho FC in the CAF Champions League on September 5 in Mauritius. Meanwhile, FC Rouge will travel to Ndola to face Zambia’s Red Arrows on September 5 for the first leg. The return leg will also take place in Mauritius.
