BASKETBALL – Madagascar eliminated in the group stage of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series in Bangkok

The Ankoay women’s team missed their mark at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series held in Bangkok, Thailand, this weekend. The Malagasy national team finished last in their group after two consecutive defeats against the Canadian and Australian selections.

In their first match against Canada, Sidonie Andriamihajanirina, Mianjasoa Rakotonirina, Ravaka Randriantahiana, and Tokin’Iaina Sambatramiora were defeated 11-21. This loss immediately complicated the situation for the Malagasy team. Facing Australia, Madagascar was unable to compete, with the Australians winning by a decisive score of 21-4, handing the Malagasy team one of their heaviest defeats on the international stage.

Twelve nations participated in this competition, which is part of the series of tournaments offering direct qualification paths for the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. Madagascar finished in 11th place in the overall standings. Germany secured first place in the competition.
