Madagascar will be represented by six riders across three different categories at the Motocross of African Nations Cup in Windhoek, Namibia, on August 29 and 30.
Aiming higher, six riders from the Great Island will participate in the 15th edition of the Motocross of African Nations. The continental competition will take place at the Gallina Motocross Park in Windhoek. Two of the country’s top riders, Mathias Plantive, the provisional championship leader on a 2026 Husqvarna FC 450, and his runner-up, Claudio Tida, on a Fantic 450, will compete in the MX1 category. This marks Mathias’s second participation, having been crowned vice-champion during his debut last year in Harare, Zimbabwe.
“After my second-place finish last year, the goal is clearly to do even better. I am going to Windhoek with the ambition to fight for victory and secure the African MX1 title with my teammate Claudio Tida,” stated multiple national champion Mathias Plantive. He added, “This second participation is a new experience, and I truly hope to carry the colors of Madagascar even higher. We are also committed to advising and supporting our riders in the MX2 and 125cc categories so the whole team can perform at its best.”
Two other riders, Steven Georges Karnezis (Fantic 250) and Jérémy Rakotoarimanana (KTM 250), will compete in MX2. The latter participated in the 2023 and 2024 editions, finishing just off the podium in the 85cc category. Meanwhile, top juniors Sincère Leung Yen and Lucas Szmurlo, both riding KTM 250s, will contest the 125cc category. The Malagasy delegation will fly out on Wednesday, August 26.
