VOLUNTEERING – Young Malagasy embark on missions around the world

Ten young Malagasy are preparing to head to France for volunteering missions lasting nine to twelve months. Among them, Henri views this mobility as an opportunity to live a personal, human, and intercultural experience. “I wish to live this personal, human, and intercultural experience and develop my skills as a student in the field of sustainable development,” he explains.

Through his mission, Henri also hopes to discover new practices and enrich his knowledge. Volunteering offers him the possibility to put his skills at the service of a mission, while learning through contact with new people and in a new environment.

The ten Malagasy volunteers will be engaged in several fields, notably education, environment and sustainable development, activities for children and youth, as well as supporting people with disabilities. They will be hosted in various French regions, including Île-de-France, Brittany, Normandy, and Occitanie.

This mobility is part of an exchange initiative between the two countries. Foreign volunteers have already carried out missions in Madagascar, thus contributing to the sharing of experiences and skills between Malagasy youth and their foreign counterparts.

Before their departure, the Malagasy volunteers underwent pre-departure training from August 18 to 21, organized by France Volontaires Madagascar. This step is intended to help them better understand the realities of their mission as well as the conditions of their future life in France.
