WAKE UP SESSION – B-Boy 3 J wins the Indian Ocean Champion title

Madagascar has made a strong impact on the regional breaking scene. B-Boy 3 J won the Breaking 1vs1 category at the Wake Up Session – Indian Ocean 2026, a prestigious urban dance competition established in Mauritius in 2010. As part of the Bouzé Festival, the event organizes and sponsors the ‘1 vs 1 Indian Ocean Championship,’ one of the most significant street dance championships in the region. This victory secures him the title of Indian Ocean Breaking Champion, following a competition that brought together dancers from various territories across the region and the African continent.

The Malagasy delegation also distinguished itself in other categories. Princia Valérie reached the Top 8 in the ‘Choose Your Style’ category, while B-Boy M.Y. finished in 4th place. These results highlight the strong presence of Malagasy talent in this competition dedicated to urban cultures and dance.

The Wake Up Session – Indian Ocean 2026 brought together participants from eleven countries and territories in the Indian Ocean and Africa: South Africa, Botswana, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, Mayotte, Comoros, Seychelles, Rodrigues, Reunion Island, Mauritius, and Madagascar. On this international stage, B-Boy 3 J managed to prevail in one of the competition’s flagship categories, placing Madagascar at the pinnacle of regional breaking.

This performance further strengthens the visibility of Malagasy dancers in urban dance events across the Indian Ocean.
