As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training (METFP), the UNFPA, and the International Labour Organization (ILO), with financial support from Norway, a new space was inaugurated at the Mahajanga Technical High School in Antsahavaky on Friday.
“The ‘Youth Corner’ is a modern youth center. It provides approximately one thousand students at the high school with a secure and confidential environment to access reliable information, receive guidance, and participate in cultural and sports activities. They will be supported to prevent school dropouts and early pregnancies,” stated Minister Todisoa Andriamampandry during the official inauguration ceremony.
The partnership aims to promote the training of skilled professionals, facilitate the transfer of skills and experience, and strengthen the sustainability of infrastructure. It also focuses on promoting education through school construction and providing equipment tailored to students in technical and vocational training.
The program seeks to strengthen education, life skills, and the protection of youth rights, while conducting social activities to prevent early pregnancies and gender-based violence. The center is equipped with computer hardware, sports equipment, and educational tools to foster a better learning environment.
