BASKETBALL – Madagascar defeated by Tunisia, will play for seventh place in the U18 Afrobasket

The Ankoay suffered their third defeat at the U18 Afrobasket in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Friday evening. The Malagasy national team was beaten (86-51) by Tunisia during the first classification match for fifth to eighth place, held this Friday at the Treichville multipurpose hall.

As was the case against Mali in their last group match or against Senegal in the quarterfinals, Madagascar had a poor start to the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Tunisians were ahead with a score of 12 to 21. The young Malagasy players tried to challenge their opponents during the second quarter, but the Tunisians still won it 20 to 19.

After returning from the locker room, the protégés of Tojo Rasamoelina completely collapsed, losing 8 to 23 in the third quarter and 12 to 22 in the final one. This Saturday, Madagascar will play the match for seventh place. The Great Island will face Chad, who were defeated by Egypt (59 to 65). For the fifth and sixth places, Tunisia will face Egypt. In the semifinals, Mali will face Senegal, and Cameroon will take on Ivory Coast.
