PORTRAIT – CLARITO HARISON ANDRIAMBELONONY – “I aspire to defend the national colors again”

15-year-old Clarito Harison Andriambelonony, a young shooter from the C2BA club in Vakinankaratra, was one of the key figures in Madagascar’s success at the U18 Mixed Youth World Championships, which concluded on August 2 in Santa Susanna, Spain. Having already been crowned world champion in doubles and a silver medalist in triples in 2025, Clarito retained his doubles title and secured bronze in both triples and precision shooting this time, alongside Nomena Ramamonjisoa and Eliot Raberanto.

Clarito, who has just entered the 11th grade (Première) at Saint-Xavier in Fianarantsoa, began practicing the sport around the age of 12 after obtaining his CEPE diploma. The 2026 Madagascar Cup runner-up in singles aims to rejoin the national team and continue representing the country in higher age categories.

“I felt more comfortable this time after my first participation and the success achieved in the previous edition. I am very happy and proud to have retained the doubles title and to have triumphed over players from other participating countries. All four team members gave their best to defend the national colors and make us proud. And we did it,” he emphasized.

Although the players fought hard in the triples event, the French team proved stronger in the semi-finals. “To succeed in such a high-level competition, you must follow the coach’s instructions, strengthen group cohesion and solidarity on the field, and support each other,” is the message and advice shared by Clarito after his achievements over two consecutive seasons.
