BEMASOANDRO ITAOSY – A man and his daughter die from gunshot wounds

Two bodies were discovered on Saturday morning in a villa in Bemasoandro Itaosy. According to initial findings by the police and gendarmerie, the victims died from gunshot wounds to the head.

A tragedy occurred on Saturday in the commune of Bemasoandro Itaosy. A 61-year-old businessman and his 20-year-old daughter were found dead in their home in Antanikatsaka. The young woman was found on her bed, covered with a blanket, while her father lay partially on his. A firearm was found on the floor between his feet.

Law enforcement stated there were no signs of forced entry and no items were stolen. Five bullets were reportedly fired at the young woman and one at her father. Four unused rounds were found in the weapon, a .22 Long Rifle pistol legally registered to the father. The doctor from the Bemasoandro Basic Health Center II estimated the time of death to be around midnight the previous night.

According to the police, the man’s driver was questioned and stated that his employer had confided in him the day before about his intention to end his life due to financial difficulties. The police, criminal brigade, and gendarmerie are currently working under the hypothesis of a murder-suicide. The bodies have been transported to the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona Hospital (HJRA) morgue for an autopsy.
