Madagascar’s tourism potential is attracting growing interest. Two partnership agreements were signed at the Delta Marriott Hotel in Antanimena between the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, the Canada-Dubai Economic Chamber, and the Chamber of Commerce and Cooperation. These agreements aim to strengthen the destination’s appeal, improve the quality of tourism offerings, and open up new markets.
Among the projects mentioned is the development of the Pangalanes Canal, an iconic site that could become a major tourism asset, provided its accessibility and infrastructure are improved. Cleaning and rehabilitating certain areas of the canal are part of this initiative.
Improving tourism appeal also involves strengthening the quality of services offered. This aspect is one of the main pillars of the collaboration, which provides for support to professionals through training, experience sharing, and skills development in line with international standards.
“We are facing real challenges, particularly in strengthening skills at the international level. We must support entrepreneurs to enable them to better penetrate foreign markets,” emphasizes Andoniaina Rafidimanana, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Cooperation.
Conquering new markets is also a priority, with the goal of diversifying visitor profiles and intensifying the promotion of the destination abroad. “This time, tourists from North America and the Middle East are specifically targeted so that they can visit the country more. This will allow for increased activity in the sector and expand markets to reach our goals,” says Lucie Vololoniaina, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts.
This strategy aligns with the implementation of the destination’s marketing plan, for which “the necessary funding is estimated at approximately 1 million dollars per year.” An investment deemed essential to increase Madagascar’s international visibility and better position itself against competition.
