The Commune of Bemasoandro Itaosy is strengthening measures to preserve public order during ‘famorana’ (circumcision) and ‘famadihana’ (exhumation) ceremonies. Through a municipal decree, authorities intend to better regulate these festivities to limit inconveniences caused to road users and local residents.
According to Mayor Jimmy Ranitratsilo, ceremonies must no longer disrupt traffic. Processions and gatherings that occupy roads or block vehicle passage are now prohibited. This measure aims to ensure traffic flow while allowing families to continue their traditions in compliance with regulations.
The decree also addresses noise pollution. Nighttime noise is permitted only until 9:00 PM. Beyond this hour, authorization issued by the Commune is mandatory to continue the festivities, a provision intended to strike a balance between cultural practices and the peace of the neighborhood.
The mayor warned that those who do not comply with these new provisions face intervention from municipal authorities. The Commune’s services may put an end to festivities organized without authorization or failing to respect the rules set by the decree.
Through this initiative, the Commune of Bemasoandro Itaosy wishes to establish a better balance between preserving Malagasy customs and maintaining public order. Authorities invite organizers of ‘famorana’ and ‘famadihana’ to contact the Commune before any event to obtain the necessary authorizations and ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremonies.
