DIPLOMACY – General Randriamiandrisoa accredited in Geneva and Vienna

The cycle of diplomatic formalities is complete. Retired General Edelin Calixte Randriamiandrisoa has officially taken up his duties on the multilateral stage. On July 29, the diplomat presented his credentials to Monica Juma, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna. A month earlier, on June 30, he had completed the same procedure with Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Appointed as Madagascar’s Ambassador to the United Nations Office at Geneva, he also holds the position of Permanent Representative to the specialized agencies based in Vienna, notably the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). This dual role places him at the heart of international issues, including industrial development.

A former general officer of the Air Force, Edelin Randriamiandrisoa approaches these new responsibilities with a diverse background, spanning both the military and public administration. He has spent over a decade leading ministries, five years as an advisor to senior government officials, and served in the government during the 2009 Transition as Minister of Environment and Forests. He has also held strategic positions within the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
