HEALTH – Mercy Ships to treat over a thousand patients

Nearly 1,300 patients are set to undergo surgical procedures conducted by Mercy Ships in Toamasina through December. These interventions cover a wide range of medical specialties, tailored to the needs identified during patient consultations.

Since the beginning of the year, Mercy Ships teams have traveled across several regions of Madagascar to conduct medical screenings. This phase was crucial for identifying individuals in need of surgery and preparing them for admission.

A public call was issued to those seeking medical intervention, with screening consultations beginning in February. Following evaluations by medical teams, eligible patients were scheduled for their operations in Toamasina.

The surgeries are scheduled to continue until the end of the year. Patients receive care tailored to their specific conditions as part of Mercy Ships’ humanitarian mission to provide surgical services to those in need.
