The 12th edition of the Meva Fair has opened in Antsiranana, focusing on investment and innovation. The event highlights the economic potential of the northern region.
Since its inception, the Meva Economic Fair has established itself as the largest economic gathering in the Diana region. More than just a trade exhibition, it has become a true lever for development, fostering business meetings, promoting local products, supporting new entrepreneurs, and showcasing the economic potential of northern Madagascar.
The 12th edition opened yesterday in Antsiranana for a four-day run, centered on investment, innovation, and openness to the Indian Ocean. The Place Foch esplanade was bustling with activity as exhibitors, investors, and officials gathered for the event, which has become one of Madagascar’s key economic milestones. Sectors including agriculture, fishing, livestock, agribusiness, crafts, tourism, industry, banking, and telecommunications are showcasing their latest innovations.
The official opening was presided over by the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Michela Andriamadison, alongside regional political figures and the President of the Antsiranana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA), Laou-po Wilfrid. Officials emphasized that regional economic development relies on a strong alliance between public authorities, local governments, the private sector, and financial partners.
The fair significantly strengthens the capacity of SMEs, cooperatives, and individual entrepreneurs. Through organized business meetings, many operators have established partnerships, accessed new markets, and improved production methods. The presence of financial institutions has also enabled many project leaders to secure funding and technical support.
A notable example is the establishment of a Chinese energy company, demonstrating the fair’s ability to attract productive investments. Furthermore, participation from chambers of commerce from Reunion and Mayotte highlights the growing interest in the Diana region.
To ensure inclusivity, the CCIA maintains a symbolic stand rental fee of 25,000 ariary per day, allowing small businesses and young entrepreneurs to participate under fair conditions. This strategic choice, supported by technical and financial partners, has solidified the Meva Fair’s reputation as a vital driver for local economic growth.
