ANTEHIROKA – Four people narrowly escape lynching

On Monday around 1:15 PM, four individuals narrowly escaped a lynching in Antehiroka, in the Ambohidratrimo district. Alerted by shouts accusing them of child abduction, hundreds of local residents gathered around the market, where members of the security committee were holding the four individuals along with a young boy.

The crowd, convinced they were kidnappers, was preparing to take action when the gendarmes arrived at the scene. Upon verification, it turned out that the man holding the child was none other than his father. Separated from his wife, who has custody of the boy, he had come unannounced to visit his son. Not finding him at home, he had decided to take the child to buy clothes and food. The boy, dirty and poorly dressed, had attracted the attention of passersby who, not recognizing the adults, immediately cried out about a kidnapping. The rumor spread, and the crowd quickly formed.
