Pétanque – Junior World Championships: Madagascar defends its title in Spain

The Malagasy national team will attempt to defend its title at the Mixed Youth World Championships. The tournament will take place from July 30 to August 2 in Santa Susanna, Spain.

As the defending champion, the Malagasy team for the U18 Mixed Youth World Championships consists of four players: Harison Clarito Andriambelonony (C2BA) and Avotiana Eliot Raberanto (PAC), along with twin sisters Nameno and Nomena Ramamonjisoa (MKT Vakinankaratra). These athletes were selected following a training camp and evaluation tests held in Antsirabe from June 10 to 12.

Madagascar holds the title from the previous edition held in Isla Cristina, Spain, in late October 2025, where the Great Island secured 62 points, ahead of Italy (52 points) and Thailand (36 points).

Adrien Julio Édouard Andrianirina, President of the Malagasy Boules Sports Federation (FSBM), stated that administrative travel documents are being finalized and the delegation is expected to depart by Monday at the latest.

The team will have only one day to acclimatize to the heatwave in Southern Europe before the busy competition schedule begins on July 30, featuring qualification rounds, precision shooting, and knockout stages through August 2.
