Lions Clubs International District 417 has launched its 2026-2027 mandate under the theme of unity. The new governor, Stefan Andrianisa, intends to strengthen the district’s humanitarian actions by focusing on youth, education, and the environment.
District 417 brings together 85 Lions clubs and 40 Léo clubs spread across Madagascar, Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues, Mayotte, Djibouti, and recently, the Comoros. Through this network, it conducts humanitarian, social, educational, and environmental initiatives for the benefit of local communities.
A member of Lions Clubs International since 2010, Stefan Andrianisa takes the helm of District 417 after holding several positions, including zone chairperson, region chairperson, protocol chief, second vice-governor, and first vice-governor. A Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (PMJF) and certified trainer, he has set his mandate under the motto: “Acting together for a common legacy.”
Governor Stefan Andrianisa stated: “Our vision is to serve the community and provide assistance to those in need.” For this term, three priority areas have been selected: youth, education, and the environment. Several actions are already scheduled, including a humanitarian caravan in September, organized in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), which will establish school canteens in 29 public primary schools in the Itasy region. A caravan in the South is planned for October departing from Antsirabe, followed by another in the North in November departing from Nosy Be. Other activities related to the global causes of Lions Clubs International have also been announced.
Through this program, District 417 aims to strengthen its commitment to the populations of the Indian Ocean territories by prioritizing local actions and collective mobilization in the service of communities.
