EDUCATION – BEPC pass rate drops in Tana Ville Cisco to 54.85%

The wait is over for candidates of the Brevet d’études du premier cycle (BEPC) in the Antananarivo Ville School District (Cisco). Slightly more than one in two students passed the exams. The results of the official examination, which concludes the four years of middle school, were published by the Ministry of National Education on Wednesday evening. The recorded pass rate is 54.85%.

This rate is a decline compared to the last two years. In 2025, 57.35% of candidates passed the BEPC, compared to 64.39% in 2024. These statistics fuel concerns regarding the decline in academic standards for students in the Greater Antananarivo area.

Antananarivo Ville accounts for the highest number of BEPC 2026 candidates. Out of the 327,815 candidates registered nationwide, 24,600 were enrolled in the capital. Many candidates and their parents attempted to check the results online on Wednesday evening. However, several reported difficulties accessing the website due to high traffic. In addition to the posted lists at examination centers, results can also be checked via SMS by sending the registration number to 601.
