KARATE – Dissidents rise up against the federation

The Madagascar Karate-Do Federation is facing opposition from its practitioners. An ad hoc committee, led by Mohammed Myridin Razafimbeloson, is challenging the legitimacy of the current leadership team of the Madagascar Karate-Do Federation (FKM). The dissidents argue that “the certificate of conformity for the current president’s functional attestation expired on April 26,” justifying their demand for a change in the federation’s leadership.

In response, the FKM took advantage of the Antananarivo International Cup to hold an Information General Assembly (AGI) on Sunday at the Mahamasina Sports Palace. Participants expressed their support for the federal leadership and adopted a series of measures against the members of the ad hoc committee.

FKM President Emile Ratefinanahary denounced the move as an attempt at destabilization. “The Assembly has decided to apply severe sanctions to the members of the ad hoc committee who are orchestrating an illegitimate destabilization. Only a General Assembly convened according to the rules can change the federation’s direction,” he stated.

The leader also announced legal actions. “The FKM will pursue legal proceedings and file a complaint with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Individual and collective sanctions were voted on unanimously,” he added.

This new crisis highlights the deep divisions currently shaking Malagasy karate, as both camps remain entrenched in their positions.
