After several months of financial crisis, the Antsiranana naval company has appointed a new general manager with the ambition of reviving its operations and restoring its credibility.
The Antsiranana Naval Study, Construction and Repair Company (Secren) is embarking on a new phase in its history. The handover between the interim general manager, Abel Ntsay, and the new general manager, Félicien Milson, took place in an atmosphere of responsibility and continuity, marking the commitment to revitalize this industrial flagship of northern Madagascar.
Following a long period of turbulence marked by a severe financial crisis, Secren is entering a new chapter. For several months, the company faced a particularly difficult situation, punctuated by protests from employees demanding nine months of unpaid wages and the departure of the former general manager. Today, a glimmer of hope has emerged, as some of the workers’ demands have been addressed as part of the company’s recovery process.
It is in this context that the new general manager, Félicien Milson, has officially taken the helm of Secren, succeeding Abel Ntsay. The ceremony was held at the company’s headquarters in the presence of political and administrative officials from the Diana region and a delegation from the Ministry of Industrialization and Private Sector Development, led by its Secretary General, Landry Manankoraisina Tatamiarisoa.
This event marks a significant turning point for the strategic enterprise, which is expected to play a major role in the development of Madagascar’s shipbuilding industry and maritime economy. It also signifies the beginning of a new mandate focused on industrial revitalization, recovery, and the restoration of the company’s credibility.
Officials stressed the urgency of pulling Secren out of the crisis. They highlighted that the appointment of the new general manager by the government, combined with the inclusion of funds for company recovery and the settlement of wage arrears in the initial Finance Law, are concrete actions toward its rehabilitation.
In his speech, Félicien Milson expressed his determination to meet the challenge. He called for unity and mobilization from the entire staff to rebuild the company’s future. “There will be no exclusion, score-settling, or discrimination against employees willing to participate in Secren’s recovery. The success of this mission requires the unity, solidarity, and commitment of all personnel,” he stated, while affirming his willingness to strengthen governance and instill a new dynamic to improve performance—a sentiment echoed by regional head Louis Francio Marovavy.
