EXHIBITION – Natoa Rasolonjatovo sublimes the encounter of opposites

Inspired by the parable of the prodigal son, the exhibition ‘The 15 Chapters of the Encounter’ invites the public to discover a unique dialogue between materials at the Novotel Convention and Spa Antananarivo, running until August 16.

The encounter of opposites becomes a true artistic experience at the Novotel Convention and Spa Antananarivo. Presented since July 4, Natoa Rasolonjatovo’s exhibition, ‘The 15 Chapters of the Encounter,’ brings together fifteen works that explore the dialogue between contrasting materials while offering a reflection on the encounter with others and with oneself.

This exhibition is part of ‘Escal’Art by Novotel,’ a cultural initiative designed to highlight artistic creation in all its forms at the Novotel Convention and Spa Antananarivo. Following a vernissage held on July 3 in the presence of the artist, the exhibition is open to the public free of charge until August 16, on the 8th floor of the establishment.

Opposing Materials

Each creation draws inspiration from the 15th chapter of the Gospel of Luke, particularly the parable of the prodigal son. ‘The fifteen chapters each represent a work inspired by Luke 15. There is the encounter between the father and his son, but also that of two opposing materials whose balance gives birth to the work,’ explains the artist.

Through his compositions, Natoa Rasolonjatovo combines glass and fabric, two materials with contrasting characteristics. ‘Glass brings transparency and fragility, symbolizing the son, while fabric covers, protects, and warms, reflecting the father,’ he specifies. This confrontation between rigidity and flexibility, light and darkness, fragility and protection results in works where differences become complementary.

‘I bring to life the dialogue of opposites,’ the artist summarizes. For him, this exhibition goes beyond a simple meeting of materials. It is also an invitation addressed to the visitor. ‘I invite everyone to come, perhaps to find an encounter with their own life and realize that the happiness they seek from afar may already be within them,’ he confides.

A visual artist, Natoa Rasolonjatovo develops an approach based on the dialogue of materials and the search for balance between opposites. Through this new series, he offers both an artistic and spiritual reflection on reconciliation, complementarity, and the quest for happiness.
