Eleven bills and proposals, originating from both the Government and the deputies, were adopted during the first ordinary session of the National Assembly, which concluded yesterday in Tsimbazaza. On this occasion, Siteny Andrianasoloniaiko, President of the National Assembly, reviewed the work carried out during these two months of session. “The deputies have worked extensively during this period, and many achievements have been accomplished within this institution,” he declared at the outset, in the presence of members of the Government.
Among the main texts adopted is the 2026 Amended Finance Law (LFR), aimed at adapting the state budget to national priorities and the essential needs of the population. It notably includes the abolition of certain taxes on products such as meat, mosquito nets, and electric vehicles, as well as the readjustment of levies on telecommunications, television, beer, and visa fees. Additional funding is also allocated for drinking water supply, as well as for Jirama and the energy sector, in order to reduce power cuts.
According to the President of the Lower House, all of “these texts are part of the rebuilding of the Republic and aim to improve the living conditions of the population while fostering the country’s development.”
