The third edition of the Mahajanga Economic Actors Fair (SAEM), originally planned for 2025, has been brought forward to this year due to the political climate. This economic and trade event is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Mahajanga.
The organizing committee, led by President Mourad Eustratiou, plans a special edition from August 20th to 23rd, to be held in front of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters in Mahajanga-Be. This announcement was the highlight of a press conference held at the Chamber last week.
The Economic Actors Fair serves as a hub of opportunities for investment, knowledge sharing, innovation, and collective growth. The objective is to connect with partners and decision-makers, providing an occasion to promote products and services while expanding professional networks.
“This year, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has chosen themes to highlight high-potential sectors in the Boeny region. For this 3rd edition, the selected fields are infrastructure, energy, and urban planning. These themes were chosen to encourage public and private stakeholders to implement efficient strategies regarding quality employment, housing, infrastructure, and basic services. The thematic conferences will be led by expert panelists,” stated Mourad Eustratiou.
The Mahajanga Municipality, along with representatives from decentralized technical services (STD), including the Topography Department, will give presentations on urban planning.
Officials from Jirama and energy production companies will also be invited to elaborate on the energy sector.
“Public-private partnership is essential for economic development. Improving research and development is necessary for the well-being of the population,” emphasized the Head of the Region, Nasolo Adakalo, during his speech.
The previous edition took place in 2024 and focused on the theme “Tourism and Transport: Pillars of Sustainable Development in the Region.” Approximately one hundred exhibitors participated in the 2024 edition. This year, organizers are aiming for maximum participation from the private sector.
