“Congratulations, our best wishes,” were the words most frequently addressed to the Head of State and the Malagasy people on the occasion of the celebration, yesterday, of the 66th anniversary of Madagascar’s return to independence.
These messages, sent by presidents and monarchs from friendly countries and partners, marked this important day in Madagascar’s history. Among them, Donald Trump, President of the United States, highlighted the importance of relations between the two countries, emphasizing economic cooperation and shared prospects. In his message, he stated that “the United States celebrates the potential of our partnership with Madagascar,” particularly through trade, investment, and economic growth.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his wishes for success and prosperity to Madagascar. He expressed his desire to further strengthen relations with the Great Island, citing “the maintenance of mutual Russo-African actions” in the perspective of upcoming international meetings.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, for his part, wished peace and development for the Malagasy people. He recalled the historical ties between the two countries, noting that “China and Madagascar are linked by deep ties of traditional friendship,” and reaffirmed the desire to continue cooperation based on mutual support.
The President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, and the Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby, also extended their best wishes to Madagascar, testifying to the continuity of relations between African countries.
Finally, several foreign sovereigns, including King Charles III of the United Kingdom, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, King Philippe of Belgium, and King Mohammed VI of Morocco, also expressed their wishes for happiness and prosperity to Madagascar.
These messages demonstrate the place occupied by Madagascar on the international stage, through significant diplomatic gestures from global powers and partner countries. They also illustrate the prospects for cooperation, mutual development, and the strengthening of diplomatic relations.
The Presidency of the Republic emphasizes that these marks of attention constitute “a legitimate pride,” messages of fraternity and renewed confidence towards the entire Malagasy people, as a “pledge of a prosperous and harmonious common future within the international system.”
