Tana Marathon: Organizers announce three categories of races

With solidarity and environmental responsibility as its core themes, the International Marathon of Tanà (MIT) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The 20th edition of the MIT is scheduled for October 10 and 11, with the starting and finishing lines located at the square of the City Hall in Analakely.

Three distinct race categories are on the program for Sunday, October 11. The main event will undoubtedly be the full 42.195 km marathon, primarily intended for seasoned athletes, both local and international. Additionally, the event features races tailored to various age groups, including a 2 km short-distance race—the “Family Marathon” designed for families, friends, or colleagues—and the 10 km “Eco-Stride” (foulée écolo) medium-distance race.

This annual sporting event, one of the most popular in the country, is jointly organized by the World Trade Center, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Urban Commune of Antananarivo—which hosts the event—and the Malagasy Athletics Federation, which oversees the technical aspects.

Organizers are expecting approximately 20,000 participants to join the celebration of this 20th anniversary. Beyond the sporting competitions, a variety of entertainment activities will also be offered.
