AMORON’AKONA – Bus routes to the station to be expanded

A reorganization of suburban transport lines is currently underway in the periphery of Antananarivo. Several cooperatives are preparing to serve the By-Pass route via Amoron’Akona, in anticipation of the upcoming opening of the Amoron’Akona bus station. This measure aims primarily to simplify and streamline travel for passengers heading to the station, as emphasized yesterday by officials from the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology during the official announcement of the station’s opening. According to the Land Transport Agency (ATT), buses from Ambanitsena, Ankadimbahoaka, Ambalavao Isotry, Beravina, Ifarihy, Ampanefy, Ambohijanaka, Anosibe Sud, Anjomakely, CNAPS Ampefiloha, Ambohimanambola, Ambohijatovo, and Ambohipeno will pass through this corridor.

The Ministry confirms that shuttle services will be implemented to connect the Amoron’Akona bus station to the “Maki Station” and the “Fasan’ny Karana bus station.” Furthermore, the number of urban train lines serving Amoron’Akona will be increased, in addition to the two lines already in operation. Additionally, the development and rehabilitation of road networks connected to the bus station will be conducted in collaboration with the Urban Commune of Antananarivo (CUA).

The opening of the station is scheduled for June 23. It is set to become a strategic junction between the capital and the Southern (RN7) and Eastern (RN2) corridors. It will cover both regional and national routes, connecting Antananarivo to various destinations such as Andramasina, Ambatolampy, Antsirabe, Betafo, Mandoto, Ambohibary, Faratsiho, Antanifotsy, Ambositra, Fandriana, Fianarantsoa, Ambalavao, Ihosy, Toliara, Miandrivazo, Morondava, Mananjary, Manakara, Farafangana, Vangaindrano, and Tolagnaro, as well as Ambatomanga, Manjakandriana, Mantasoa, Moramanga, Vatomandry, Mahanoro, Ilaka Est, Alaotra, Toamasina, and Fénérive Est.
