BEACH VOLLEYBALL – CAVB ZONE 7 – Five teams to compete in the Seychelles

Massive presence. Madagascar has registered five teams—two men’s and three women’s—for the CAVB (Confédération Africaine de Volleyball) Zone 7 beach volleyball tournament. This regional summit, scheduled for July 1st and 2nd, will take place alongside the continental African Cup qualification tournament.

Among the participants are two teams that excelled at the first stage of the Madagascar Cup, held in late May at Tanana Soa in Ambohimanga Rova. Leading the list is the winning duo from the first round of the national cup, representing the Gendarmerie Nationale Volleyball: brothers Waltino Andriafaramanana and Julio Randriafaramanana. The second men’s team consists of Thierry Antonio Robsell and Bradley Michel Andrianjafy, who were semi-finalists in the Madagascar Cup.

Four countries from the region will be represented: host nation Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, and the Comoros. On the women’s side, the national cup winners, the pair Marina Ali and Julienne Odedah, are among those registered.

The second women’s team features the regional competition regular, Holiarisoa Andriamihasoa Ravonitseheno, who will be partnered this time with Joelle Hariniaina Yannick Andrianirina. Andry previously won a bronze medal at the CAVB Zone 7 Cup in Moroni, Comoros, in December 2025, alongside Andreas Momi Ramanintsy, and took the vice-champion title in Mahajanga in November 2024. The third women’s team, already on-site, consists of two expatriates living in the Seychelles: Anthares Melissa Rambony and Rose de Lima Alfred, both former key players for the Stef’Auto club of Atsinanana.

“Each country will present its own selection. The other teams will compete in the first round of the CAVB Zone 7. We are still awaiting confirmation of the teams that will defend the national colors in the continental qualifiers, but logically, those who were champions in the latest national competition will play the qualifying tournament,” explained the National Technical Director, Hasimbola Famonjena Roelison. Normally, the national team for the qualifying tournament should be funded by the State, while the others will cover their own travel expenses.
