The Alliance Française of Antananarivo is hosting two photographic exhibitions dedicated to education, dance, and fashion from November 3 to 14, as part of the SAR’nao Photography Month 2026.
Photography becomes a witness to time and human journeys at the Alliance Française of Antananarivo. To open the SAR’nao Photography Month 2026, the institution is honoring twenty years of commitment to rural education through an exhibition bringing together the perspectives of two photographers, Pierrot Men and Guillaume de Tapol. The opening took place on Tuesday, November 3, at 11 a.m. in the garden of the Alliance Française in Ivandry.
Titled “20 Years of the CERES Program,” this first exhibition, presented from November 3 to 8, traces two decades of youth support by the Center for Educational and School Reinforcement (CERES). Through a selection of photographs taken by Pierrot Men in 2015 and Guillaume de Tapol in 2025, the public will discover the daily lives of young people supported by this program, which is particularly committed to preventing school dropouts.
Taken ten years apart, these two black-and-white photographic perspectives put into perspective the paths of young people, their living conditions, and the challenges related to access to education. Beyond their artistic dimension, the shots invite reflection on equal opportunities, transmission, and the role of educational support in building the future.
The program will continue from November 10 to 14 with “AFFEKT,” a solo exhibition by Faly Randrianjatovo. Through a selection of fewer than twenty photographs, the artist explores the relationships between dance, movement, the body, and fashion. This contemporary proposal brings several artistic disciplines into dialogue and offers another perspective on fashion photography. The opening is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at the Alliance Française of Antananarivo.
As an extension of this exhibition, introductory workshops on fashion photography will be organized on November 11, 12, and 13, starting at 2 p.m. Led by Faly Randrianjatovo, in collaboration with Agence Totem and Modus Mode, these sessions will be accessible upon registration and for a fee.
Mediation activities will also complement this program. Guided tours will be offered to Alliance Française learners and students from schools to familiarize them with photographic art and encourage their discovery of the works. The SAR’nao festival thus reaffirms its commitment to artistic creation and local cultural initiatives.
