Law enforcement authorities have recorded eight complaints as of yesterday regarding alleged fraud and theft cases involving a couple. Additional complaints have reportedly been filed with the gendarmerie. Following a search, the man was apprehended and is currently being held for questioning at the Tsaralalàna central police station. His partner, however, remains at large. Known in journalistic circles, she has also previously managed public institutions and government ministries. Search efforts are ongoing to locate her, and a wanted notice is expected to be issued.
Investigations reveal a similar modus operandi in the various cases attributed to the couple. The two individuals are suspected of targeting owners of vehicles offered for rent without a driver. After expressing their intention to rent the vehicles, they would disappear with them without a trace. The cars were allegedly diverted from their intended use, repurposed, pawned, or resold. According to reports, the couple is also accused of defrauding homeowners.
