The investigation continues into the clandestine release of eleven Chinese nationals from a prison several months ago. Three individuals have already been placed in pre-trial detention for their alleged involvement in this case.
According to statements made by the Minister of Justice, Fanirisoa Ernaivo, on October 23 in Toamasina, three other individuals suspected of being among the organizers of this illegal release are being actively sought.
The Minister spoke on the sidelines of the official graduation ceremony for new prison officers in Toamasina. Responding to questions from journalists, she assured that “the investigation will not stop here and will be carried out to its conclusion in order to shed full light on this matter and apply the law to all those involved.”
Among those wanted is the Secretary General of the Prison Officers’ Union, suspected of having played a major role in organizing the release of the detainees. A police commissioner is also being sought, as he allegedly used his position to facilitate their escape. Finally, another Chinese national is suspected of having acted as an intermediary between the detainees and the various officials involved.
