HEALTH – Holitiana Rabemanantsoa publishes eight books

Midwife, teacher, and doctoral student, Holitiana Vololoniaina Rabemanantsoa is sharing her expertise with the public through a collection of books dedicated to health, maternity, early childhood, and etiquette.

Her ambition is to inform in order to better prevent and support daily life. As a midwife and lecturer at a private university, she shares her knowledge through books written in Malagasy, accessible to the general public.

Her collection includes six volumes of ‘Ny Fahasalamako’ (My Health), focused on health, and two books titled ‘Olo-mendrika’, focused on etiquette and good manners. Her two latest publications, released on July 26, 2026, cover pregnancy and infants: ‘Ny Fahasalamako’ volume 5: ‘Ho an’ny vehivavy bevohoka’ (For pregnant women) and ‘Ny Fahasalamako’ volume 6: ‘Ny zazakely 0-2 taona’ (Babies aged 0-2).

The first book addresses the stages of pregnancy, fetal development, physical changes, childbirth preparation, and postpartum care. It also covers sexuality during pregnancy and daily life during this period. The second book focuses on the first hours of a newborn’s life, characteristics of the infant, health issues to prevent, nutrition, and hygiene.

The author also incorporates knowledge of natural care methods and plants found in Madagascar. However, she emphasizes that her books do not replace medical consultations, urging readers to see a doctor when ill.

The project began in 2011, with the first publications appearing in 2013. As a midwife by training and a doctoral student in education and social sciences, Rabemanantsoa continues her mission of knowledge transmission, viewing learning as a continuous process for the benefit of health and daily life.
