With nearly 5,000 km of coastline and significant maritime traffic in the Mozambique Channel, Madagascar is exposed to the risks of hydrocarbon pollution. The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) has announced a regional exercise to combat such spills in 2027, which will test intervention capabilities.
