The attack that occurred on Monday evening in Ankarinarivo, in the commune of Soavina, Betafo, is believed not to be a simple act of banditry aimed at theft, but rather a premeditated act of vengeance, according to the family of the three victims.
According to their account, the assailants stole nothing. Upon entering the house, they struck the father on the head with a stick, killing him instantly. The mother was also seriously injured and lost consciousness. Following the assault, the attackers abducted their three-year-old daughter before fleeing with her.
This modus operandi—killing without theft and kidnapping a child—leads the family and local residents to suspect an underlying dispute or grudge within the village. Residents noted that while conflicts have occurred in the village before, this is the first time one has resulted in a homicide.
The Betafo Gendarmerie has opened an investigation. The three-year-old child is still being actively sought. Law enforcement is calling on the public to cooperate in order to identify the perpetrators of this attack.
