On the occasion of the Republic’s anniversary, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, Head of State, has placed national sovereignty at the center of political debate. In Antsohihy, he denounced an ‘other form of colonization’ which, according to him, hinders the country’s development.
A rebirth of the nation. Listening to his speech in Antsohihy, this is the dimension that Colonel Michaël Randrianirina wants to give to the ‘Refoundation’. A rebirth to conquer what he describes as ‘true independence’ and to stimulate a real dynamic of development.
To achieve this goal, the occupant of Iavoloha calls for national cohesion. He asks the population to overcome rivalries and divisions, and to prioritize the collective interest. According to him, ‘no development can materialize in exclusion and destructive rivalries’.
The words ‘sovereignty’ and ‘true independence’ were the highlights of his speeches. ‘We are not yet independent. There will be no development as long as we remain under the yoke of colonization,’ the senior officer stated. He further criticized the dependence on international aid and the cultural influence of French-language schools that restrict the use of the Malagasy language.
The Head of State also paid tribute to the late Philibert Tsiranana, the first President of the Republic, noting that the choice of Antsohihy for the celebrations was a way to honor the ‘father of independence’. He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to leading Madagascar toward this ‘true independence’ as he marks his time in power.
